I ran across the series of newspaper articles I wrote for the Greensboro News and Record during my Appalachian Trail thru-hike in 2000 while going through some old boxes of stuff at the house. I scanned and snagged the text with Adobe Acrobat, and they’re now posted under the Appalachian Trail Thru-hike Journals category.
Going back and reading these almost eight years later, I realize that that thru-hike is largely responsible for many, many changes in my life. I never would have gone to grad school, started a PhD, or paddled the Mississippi River if I didn’t take that six months of my life to walk from Maine to Georgia. Things change, relationships have come and gone, but one things remains the same – I’m not the same person that stood on top of Kathadin, some 2000 miles from home, wondering what I’ve gotten myself into.

Glad you enjoyed the blog. I’m in the process of putting up some more findings from the AT thru-hiker study soon, so stick around!
